Vom 13. bis zum 15.Juli 2018 findet die alljährliche Fachtagung für junge Osteuropa-ExpertInnen in Leipzig statt. Die Tagung bietet einen Überblick über die aktuelle Osteuropaforschung im deutschsprachigen Raum und ermöglicht einen interdisziplinären Austausch zu Osteuropa sowie eine Vernetzung unter den NachwuchswissenschaftlerInnen. Die Tagung richtet sich an fortgeschrittene Studierende, DoktorandInnen und jüngere Promovierte unterschiedlicher Disziplinen, die sich mit Osteuropa (darunter auch Mittel- und Südosteuropa) beschäftigen, und ihre Forschungsprojekte anderen angehenden WissenschaftlerInnen und ausgewiesenen FachvertreterInnen vorstellen und sie mit ihnen diskutieren möchten.
Anders als in den vergangenen Jahren wird dabei auf dieser Tagung kein inhaltliches Thema gesetzt. So soll Teilnehmenden mit unterschiedlichen Forschungsschwerpunkten die Gelegenheit gegeben werden, eigene Schwerpunkte zu setzen und Vernetzungsmöglichkeiten und Diskussionen auf der JOE-Tagung für sich zu nutzen. Die Tagung bietet damit auch einen Einblick in neue Forschungen zu Osteuropa. In diesem Sinne ist die Tagung offen für Forschungsprojekte aus den sozial-, geistes- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Fächern sowie ausdrücklich aus den wirtschafts- und rechtswissenschaftlichen Bereichen. Von besonderem Interesse sind interdisziplinär ausgerichtete Projekte. Die Tagungssprache ist Deutsch. Beiträge können auch auf Englisch eingereicht und gehalten werden. Darüber hinaus können Vorschläge für Panels, bestehend aus drei Beiträgen, gemacht werden.
Die Tagung wird von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde (DGO), der Forschungsstelle Osteuropa (FSO) an der Universität Bremen, dem Leibniz-Institut für Geschichte und Kultur des östlichen Europa (GWZO) und dem Leibniz WissenschaftsCampus "Eastern Europe - Global Area" (EEGA) ausgetragen, letztere Institutionen sind die Gastgeber. Kosten für Unterkunft und Verpflegung werden von den Veranstaltern getragen.

Vorschläge für Einzelbeiträge

- Abstract von maximal 500 Wörtern mit Angaben zu Fragestellung, Erkenntnisinteresse, theoretischem Ansatz und Methode (zur Veröffentlichung im Tagungsreader vorgesehen)
- Mitteilung über den Stand des Forschungsprojekts und institutionelle Anbindung
- Zusammenfassung von maximal 200 Wörtern mit Angaben zum Titel, Thema und Ziel des Panels
- Abstracts und Informationen zu den jeweiligen Einzelbeiträgen (siehe linke Spalte)

Vorschläge für Panels

- ein Panel sollte aus ca. drei Vortragenden bestehen und mindestens zwei unterschiedliche Institutionen repräsentieren
Bewerbungen spätestens bis zum 15. Januar 2018 an joe-tagung@uni-bremen.de.
Auswahlentscheidungen werden Ende Februar mitgeteilt.
Bei Zusage muss bis zum 1. Mai 2018 ein deutsch- oder englischsprachiges Paper von ca. 3.000 Wörtern eingereicht werden, das den TeilnehmerInnen vorab zur Verfügung gestellt wird.

CfP: 26th Conference of junior scholars in the field of East European studies

The annual conference of Young Eastern Europe Experts (JOE) will take place from July 13th – 15th 2018 in Leipzig. The conference provides an overview of current research projects on Eastern Europe, particularly within German universities, and also enables interdisciplinary exchange regarding Eastern Europe, as well as networking among young scholars. The conference aims to bring together advanced students, PhD candidates and young scholars who have already completed their doctoral research from various disciplines focussing on Eastern Europe (including Central and Southeastern Europe), and invites them to present and discuss their research projects with other prospective scholars and qualified professionals.
Unlike in previous years, there is no overall theme for this conference. Therefore, the participants from different research areas have the opportunity to set their own priorities and make use of the networking opportunities and discussions at the JOE Conference. The conference therefore also offers an insight into the current German-language research relating to Eastern Europe based on the topics and contributions of the young scholars. Accordingly, the conference is open to research projects in the social sciences, the humanities and cultural studies, as well as to contributions from the fields of economics and law. Interdisciplinary projects are of particular interest. The language of the conference is German, although contributions may be submitted and presented in English. In addition, proposals for panels consisting of three contributions can be suggested.
The conference is organized by the German Association of Eastern European Studies (DGO), the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen (FSO), the Leibniz Institute for History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) and the Leibniz ScienceCampus "Eastern Europe - Global Area" (EEGA), with the latter acting as host institutions. The costs for accommodation and catering are covered by the organizers.

Suggestions for individual texts

- An abstract of maximum 500 words which relates to the research question, findings, theoretical approach and method (intended for publication in the conference reader)
- Information about the status of the research project and institutional affiliation
- A summary of maximum 200 words with the title, topic and target of the panel
- Abstracts and information on the individual texts (see the left column)

Suggestions for panels

- A panel should consist of about three speakers, and represent at least two different institutions

Selection decisions will be made by the end of February 2018.
In the case of acceptance to the conference, a German or English language paper of about 3,000 words must be submitted by 1st May 2018. It will be delivered to other participants prior to the conference.
